This sound was recorded in one of the cafes of the Red Bridge in Kabul (Cafe Mina or Sample). Bahrokh Siddiqui sings a poem in memory of three of his friends Khaleda, Samim and Hasiba who died in various explosions in Kabul.
This performance was recorded just eight days after Hasiba was killed at the Shaheed Deh Buri intersection.
In this poem, familiar names and places of the city of Khairkhane, Deh Buri and the alleys of Kabul are present alongside everyday life; but behind this narrative, there is a sadness that seems to foretell the future.
The poem speaks of tomorrow; a tomorrow that begins on the surface like any other day, but this city has repeatedly experienced how an ordinary morning can turn into a person’s last morning.
